Biography

Julio Mendoza

Julio Mendoza attended the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory in Cuba. In 1979 emigrates with his family to Venezuela where he attended the Juan José Landaeta Conservatory.
There he studies trumpet with Egon Albrech, Music Theory with Violeta Lares 

and Music History with José Peñin. Under the direction of María Antonia Palacios, he becomes member of the conservatory's orchestra and the wind ensemble. He participates in several concerts playing baroque music, classical and contemporary, the latter under the direction of composer Jackie Sheriber. In 1985, Julio Mendoza's inclination for Jazz and popular music leads him to spend time at nightclubs where this kind of music is played. He starts working with singer Nancy Toro and becomes a member of several Jazz bands. Playing with musicians such as Carlos Rojas, Víctor Mestas, Héctor Hernández, Pedro López, Cristóbal Pitalúa, Roberto Jirón and Otmaro Ruiz.
